Navigating the complexity of college applications, scholarships, admissions, selections, and financial fit for collegiate candidates and their parents
College admissions processes can be daunting. Tuition costs may rival prices of a home. At today’s prices, parents and students wonder about fit compared to value. The application process can be overwhelming. Many parents and students are often shocked to learn there will be no financial aid for high-priced schools and they don’t know how to approach scholarships. No one wants to spend the last year with their child at home arguing about the common app! Sanchez Admissions Consulting helps students and their parents navigate the system and make wise choices for this critical investment.

Areas of Practice
Common APP ESSAY EDITING
Seniors and gap year students can apply to over 800 universities and colleges through the Common App. While universities may require additional statements, resumes, and supplemental essays, most require at least the core 650-word essay. This may be the most significant insight into a collegiate candidate’s critical thinking process, writing ability, and personality; it can set students apart. Counseling session includes discussion about what the candidate wants to present to the selection committee, review, and editing of essay. The essay brought to this session must have been teacher reviewed at least once.
RESUME WRITING
Resumes are often required for selective programs and as part of scholarship application processes. Resumes may even be required if your student decides to rush for a fraternity or sorority. A well done resume can set one candidate apart from others. This session results in a professional snapshot of the collegiate candidates’ education, work, volunteer, athletic, and leadership activities.
SUPPLEMENTAL ESSAYS and statements
Many universities require supplemental essays or statements as part of their application, for consideration into an Honors or Scholars program, and for scholarships. These sessions focus on understanding which selected universities require what, when deliverables are due, and how to look for invitations to additional scholarship opportunities. Sessions include discussions around approach to supplemental essays, ideation, and editing. Review of these essays does not require a teacher assessment.
Sophomore and junior COUNSELING
It’s harder to build a resume or a story if you don’t start until senior year. The retainer ensures quarterly calls to the student to check in on grades, activities, and discussion of resume building activities and aspirations. There will also be one call per semester to start planning with parents. For the students, it is a nudge to help them mindfully work to set themselves up optimally to reach their target collegiate admissions goals. For the parents, it is a chance to discuss campus tours, goals, and to understand how to have the financial discussions with children. It is a place to ask any number of questions or address anxieties that can come along with this process. These check-in sessions help alleviate some of the parent lift of guiding their teens’ approach to schoolwork and extracurricular activities. $125/year
College Selection Consulting
The majority of collegiate candidates apply to between 6-9 universities. That can be an overwhelming and unnecessary number of schools for many, but for others, that range ensures a robust selection of in-reach target, stretch, and safety schools. These sessions help guide collegiate candidates towards a balanced portfolio of options. During this time, we will build an application schedule and develop a university profile for each selected school that can be used for reference during the selection process, post-acceptance.
